Valentines Day Rocks <3
Valentines day is on 14 February...
and you may have some free time and want to create a crafty masterpiece to show your love.
Below, the first of our suggested crafts, suitable for any level of creativity or artistic ability ;-)
Materials:
- A rock. Smooth rocks with flatter surfaces are a little easier. Also great to have one with a reasonably stable base to stand on.
- Heart Shaped Template- Print it from HERE
- Paint- acrylic or craft paints work really well, but almost any paints will do.
- A suitable paintbrush
- Skewer or cotton bud for dotted paint effect
Below the steps we followed. But if you feel yourself overcome with creativity- freestyle to your heart's content!
- Wash the rock and let it dry. Ensure no dust or soil is stuck to it.
- If you want to, you can give the whole rock a base coat of paint. Ensure it dries before you paint the image on top!
- Transfer the image that you want to point to the surface. We have listed some options of how to achieve this.
- Now the fun bit starts. Paint the shape of your design in the colour of your choice, being sure to create even coverage.
- Let it dry
- Add patterns and embellishments of your choice. I used a wooden skewer to create the dots. A cotton bud works well too. For more precision, you can use a paint marker, rather than a paint brush. If you want to go all out, add another dimension by sticking feathers or ribbon, pompoms or the like, on your craft.
- And you're good to Go!
- For durability, you can always add a layer of varnish or sealer on top.
